Powderhorn Park MLK Celebration: A great way to celebrate his dream—and your day off.

No school. No work (fingers crossed). Hey, watcha doin’ with your day off? Hey, I’ve got an idea, why not celebrate the reason for the pleasin’ with the Martin Luther King Celebration at Powderhorn Park?

The celebration will include Aztec dancers, a youth choir, West African drumming, hip-hop and salsa dancing, and a Martin Luther King Jr. tribute song. With authentic soul food provided by Soul Sisters (sweet potato pie, meet my pie hole). Plus there’ll be a civil rights internet scavenger hunt and West African drum lessons for the kiddos. The event is free but consider bringing a non-perishable food item for the “Feeding the Dream” community food drive (benefitting Groveland Food Shelf).

Because unlike my dream the other night in which the husband shaved the dog and his hair never grew back, this is a dream worth celebrating.
