Let me just get this out there: I have mixed feelings about rodeos. On the other hand, a little time outside one’s element can be a good thing. So let’s just say, I’m not highly encouraging you take your little cow-people to the Hamel Rodeo, I’m just telling you about it.
Saturday is Family Day there and there will be a $7-ticket-price family matinee rodeo (with cowboy monkeys!) and free pony rides for the kids, 11:30 am to 1 pm. And this is the part that made me giggle: Kids 10 and under can participate in stick horse races and a calf scramble. I hear the Hamel Rodeo is the largest rodeo in Minnesota. I also hear the Belland and Medina police department will be there on Family Day to promote Safety Day. Kids can get fingerprinted, see fire trucks and police cars, and meet police dogs.
So go if you want to. Or don’t. I’ll still love you.

I feel you! The rodeo is like the zoo for me, only worse. It always sounds like a good idea but then I feel so sad once I’m there.
YES! Also, the circus (the kind with performing animals, not the Juventas kind).
