Redesign Your Favorite Book Cover Contest: Turn their summer reading into an art project.

I used to eat this kind of stuff up when I was a kid. In fact, I credit winning my grade school’s carnival poster contest with starting me on my copywriting career path. (My winning line: The Fun is Best at Fun-D-Fest!) (Must not have been too many contestants that year.)

If you’ve got an artsy competitive type in grade 4-12, you may want to tell them about Eden Prairie Library’s Redesign Your Favorite Book Cover Contest. Maybe there’s a book they thought was great with a cover they thought was “Meh.” (“Gold mocking jay. Puh-lease!”) So they create something utterly fabulous in any medium (drawing, painting, photography, computer graphics, mixed-media, etc.) and submit it for the chance to win $50.

Entries and release forms must be submitted by 9 pm, Tuesday, July 31, 2012 at the Eden Prairie Library Information Desk. One winner in each division will receive $50 cash. Two runners-up in each division will receive $25 cash. Get complete contest details here.

And presto! There begins their career in graphic design.
