Get Them Samurai Smart with Art Out of the Box: Samurai Style

Italy, Half Armor, Minneapolis Institute of Arts, Gift of Wayne and Rosalee MacFarlane

If the extent of your little warrior’s Samurai fashion sensibilities come from Scooby-Doo, here’s a don’t-miss opportunity to turn him into a master: Art Out of the Box: Samurai Style at Minneapolis Public Libraries.

Today from 2-3 p.m., kids entering grades 2-5 can see what the noble warriors of Japan wore and get an up-close look at the details found in authentic samurai armor found at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts. It’s an art workshop, so count on your future refrigerator exhibits to include some Japanese armor art. (Don’t you feel more worldly already?)

Register online or call 612-543-6075. Today’s class is happening at the St. Anthony library, but if you live in Hennepin County, chances are there’s one coming to a library near you. Now that’s a battle you can always win.
